FIN & TECH Innovation Village
The “Financial Development Action Plan” promulgated by the Executive Yuan in June 2018 specifically describes Taiwan’s vision of FinTech development, including encouraging financial innovation, building innovative experimental mechanisms, and developing an innovation base for Taiwanese FinTech. The Taiwan Academy of Banking and Finance (TABF) has long been focused on FinTech, training talent, developing competency verification, promoting research, publishing books and periodicals, and providing IT consulting services. Just as in the government plan, a physical innovation base is necessary to promote FinTech development. Based on this, TABF has established a physical FinTech innovation lab: the FIN & TECH Innovation Village. As a physical base for FinTech experimentation, the Village combines financial services with technological innovation. The FIN & TECH Innovation Village will play an important intermediary role in the FinTech ecosystem between a membership institution, regulator, technology operator, and academic unit – just like the double-helix DNA structure of its logo. FinTech links the genes of finance together with technology, creating a new future for the innovation, growth, and evolution of Taiwan’s financial services. The Village includes a FinTech innovation lab, global information and security war room, multi-function exchange lecture hall, technology classroom, and discussion area to provide services such as professional matchmaking and training, projects, high-level exchange, special seminars, joint development and procurement, consulting, resource sharing, and technical support to help the finance industry enrich its FinTech expertise and obtain IT solutions at a reasonable cost.
